DOUGLASTON, N.Y. (WABC) --
A massive tree toppled over in Queens Tuesday morning, blocking a roadway.
It happened on 54th Avenue near Douglaston Parkway in Douglaston, which is just a couple blocks from the Long Island Expressway.
Eyewitness News viewer Milena Alicandro sent us these photos of the giant tree across the road. The roots were lifted when the tree fell.
The tree also knocked down power wires, causing about 60 homes in the area to lose power.
Firefighters responded to the scene to make sure there no there was no immediate danger around the tree.
No one was hurt.
Although no official cause for the fall has been released, it's likely the morning's heavy rain contributed to the toppling. More rain is expected in the afternoon.
