Crews
worked through the day on Monday to clear derailed train cars south of
the CSX train yard near Palafox Street and Fairfield Drive.
At around 6:20 a.m. Monday morning, a train traveling from New Orleans, La. to Waycross, Ga. derailed 12 cars in the rail yard. The train had three locomotives, 120 loaded cars carrying mixed freight and 69 empty rail cars, according to CSX spokesperson Kristin Seay.
Crews worked through the day to clear the tracks and expected to resume normal train operations Monday evening. There was no significant impact to train traffic through the area, and only one train had to be rerouted, according to Seay.
No was injured in the derailment. The cause is under investigation.
