1 worker killed at a junk yard at OBI Sheer Steel in Chocowinity, NC after he was pinned under a container.

Beaufort County authorities have named the place where a fatal industrial accident took place Friday.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says 55-year-old David Partee was involved in the accident at OBI Sheer Steel at 904 Frederick Road in Chocowinity,
NC 27817.  This is a junk yard where they recycle steel and/or other metals.



Authorities say the accident happened around 1:20 in the afternoon. Partee, who is from Vanceboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lt. Wesley Waters said the man was pinned under a container. No one else was injured. No further details on how the accident occurred were available Saturday.

The sheriff says that an investigation is ongoing alongside the Occupational Safety & Health Division of the NC Department of Labor.

Officials didn't name the business, but say that it happened on Frederick Road in Chocowinity. 

Pronounced dead at the scene was 55-year-old David Partee of River Road in Vanceboro.
