Traffic is flowing again on the Albemarle Sound Bridge in Washington County after a log truck crash.

The Highway Patrol says they were called around 11:30 a.m. for the accident on the bridge.

Washington County Sheriff John Barnes says a log truck lost a wheel and hit the side of the bridge. He says no other vehicles were involved.

People stuck in traffic say the bridge was completely shut down. The D.O.T. opened one lane this afternoon, allowing intervals to cross. Both lanes resumed traffic shortly after 4:00 p.m.

The 3-1/2 mile long bridge carries Highways 32 & 94 across the sound into Chowan County.
The D.O.T. says there was some minor damage to the bridge railing.
