A semi-truck drops 100 feet after it careens off of the bridge at I-75 in Detroit, MI

Driver Walks Away From Incredible Semi-Truck Crash Over Bridge On I-75 July 24, 2016 2:19 PM

DETROIT (WWJ) – A semi-truck careens off of the bridge at I-75 — landing in a mangled heap below and amazingly the driver is able to walk away.

An improbable outcome from an accident on I-75 near Dearborn street – after a semi-truck driver allegedly was trying to avoid another car when he hit the median, came back across all lanes of traffic and flipped over the bridge.

Public Information Officer Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police described the accident to WWJ:

“Striking through the wall and ended up careening over and landing on the bottom probably about a 100 foot drop onto Dearborn Street off that bridge,” said Shaw.

He says even with the 100 foot drop off the bridge the man is fine and walked away from the crash without an injury.

Police continue to investigate the issues surrounding the accident; but they believe that alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor.

Motorists on I-75 north and southbound can expect to have some delays Down River throughout the afternoon.
