WARNING, PEDESTRIAN DEATHS/INJURIES ARE ON THE RISE: Man killed while crossing street near Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC


Man killed while crossing street near Barclays Center in Brooklyn
A man was killed after he was struck by a car in Brooklyn near Barclays Center.

New York City police said a 66-year-old man was crossing the street at Atlantic Avenue and Clinton Street in Cobble Hill, when the driver of a Mercedes struck him.

The man was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, stayed at the scene.

No arrests were made. Police are continuing to investigate.

Witnesses told Eyewitness News the victim was a local business owner. 


Pedestrian deaths are on the rise, as the economic activity rises and people are rushing to their jobs and other obligations.  Pedestrians should take extra precautions while they cross the streets and they should not expect that the drivers will avoid hitting them.  Especially at night the pedestrians need to be even more cautious.
