California Statewide Fire Summary
Sunday, August 9, 2015
More
than 10,000 firefighters continue to make good progress on the 18
active wildfires burning in California. While milder temperatures have
aided firefighters in their containment efforts, a new wildfire did
ignite in Tehama County charring over 100 acres. This week temperatures
are expected to increase and return to normal. Starting Monday and into
the beginning half of the week strong winds are expected across much of
Northeastern California and the Northern Sierra. These winds will
elevate the fire danger.
California
is getting extra assistance from several nearby states including
Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona. Over 50 fire engines and fire crews have
been brought in to assist CAL FIRE in containment efforts on several of
the fires, as well as providing an opportunity for CAL FIRE to rotate
crews and prepare for the possible next round of high fire activity.
CAL
FIRE encourages everyone to be careful when outdoors in the wildland
area. Before going hiking, camping, or barbequing check for any fire
restrictions. To learn more go to www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
