A STANDSTILL AS CREWS CLEAN UP AFTER FIERY CRASH IN MCLENNAN COUNTY,
TEXAS. AN 18-WHEELER CRASHED INTO A
MEDIAN AND BURST INTO FLAMES

MCLENNAN COUNTY - Drivers on 1-35 southbound near the
Wiggins Road exit are still stuck on the interstate hours after an 18-wheeler
crashed into a median and burst into flames. The driver of that 18-wheeler is
unharmed.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning on I-35 south near the Wiggins Road exit in West.
Emergency crews from Ross and West, along with TxDOT, were on scene.
The driver lost control of the truck and veered directly into the median and partially in the northbound lanes. The truck then burst into flames, but fire crews put out the flames within a few minutes.
Gasoline from the truck leaked out onto the interstate.
Both sides of the interstate were shut down for some time. Northbound lanes were at a standstill for an hour before cars were diverted to the service road.
On the southbound side, drivers are still struck in standstill traffic hours after the crash. The line of cars stretches back for about a mile. From that point, cars are being diverted to the service road.
