ANOTHER CLOSE CALL: GAS LEAK STOPPED ON JONES CREEK ROAD IN EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH AFTER CONSTRUCTION CREW STRUCK AN 8-INCH GAS LINE

A gas leak earlier Thursday (Jan. 8) on Jones Creek Road in East Baton Rouge Parish has been stopped and "all (responding) units are clear," St. George Fire District Eldon Ledoux said.

A Baton Rouge hazmat team and St. George Fire District responders worked the scene after a construction crew struck an 8-inch gas line. Deputies temporarily rerouted traffic from Jones Creek Road to Shenandoah and Ferrell avenues. Traffic is now back to normal.

The incident posed no danger, Ledoux said, but officials were monitoring air quality near the scene.
