11:18 a.m. EST January 6, 2015
A head-on crash Tuesday morning involving a highway
patrol trooper sent four people - including two children younger than 6 years
old - to the hospital, authorities said.
Erika Singleton, 25, was driving on U.S. 50 in Clermont
County when she lost control of her vehicle, slid into the other lane and
struck a highway patrol cruiser, according to a news release from the Ohio
State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. in Miami Township,
east of Ohio 450. After overnight
snow flurries continued Tuesday, this was at least the second crash
of the day involving a state or
county vehicle.
Trooper Jason McElfresh was not responding to an
emergency situation, the release states.
Singleton, of Milford, was traveling with her two
children -- ages 6 and 22 months old.
Everyone involved was taken to the hospital, but there
were no serious injuries, patrol officials said. All are expected to be treated
and released.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the release
states.
