Update Tuesday 3:45 p.m.

A Florida truck driver was killed in a Loudon County crash that shut down the interstate for several hours early Tuesday morning.

According to a fatal accident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Billy Cecil Bailey, 58, was traveling North on Interstate 75 when his semi truck left the road and went into the median near Mile Marker 72. The incident happened around 3:30 a.m.

Investigators determined when the truck went back onto the road it overcorrected, causing the truck and trailer to overturn and slide.

When the truck finally stopped, the cab of the vehicle was blocking one of the interstate lanes.

According to THP, Bailey was trying to climb out of the cab when another vehicle hit him and the truck.

The driver and passenger in the second vehicle were injured.

The report noted there were no citations issued and no criminal charges.

I-75 fully reopened Tuesday afternoon.
