A semi-truck driver lost control of his vehicle and
crashed into a median on Interstate-27, causing traffic delays on the highway
Thursday night.
Police say the driver, who was unidentified, did not
suffer from any major injuries. The driver did not say why he lost control of
his vehicle.
The truck also made impact with highway signs on the
interstate, knocking the sign for Exit 122B for Washington St. going southbound
to the ground.
Several lanes of traffic are still experiencing delays,
including the 34th St. entrance going southbound and the Washington St.
entrance heading northbound.
The items the truck was carrying were not identified.
Police say the driver will be issued a citation.
A press release sent out by the Amarillo Police
Department says morning travel could be affected and are asking drivers to plan
for an alternate route for their morning commute.
