PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A 21-year-old died Tuesday after the vehicle she was driving slammed into the back of a dump truck on US 19 in Pinellas Park.

Police officers responded to the scene of the crash on US 19 just north of Mainlands Boulevard around 2 a.m. Police say Taylor Leigh Venello was driving a 2007 Hyundai. She was speeding down the roadway and failed to slow down for the dump truck, which was ahead in the same lane, police said.

The dump truck was carrying around 21 tons.

Venello was killed on impact. A 19-year-old front seat passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to Bayfront Hospital as a trauma alert. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

An investigation is underway, but Pinellas Park police do not anticipate any charges.
