JOLIET, Ill. -- A former secretary at the Will County Public Defender's Office is accused of stealing and reselling thousands of dollars in printer ink cartridge.
Forty-five-year-old Sheri Tucker of New Lenox turned herself in to authorities Thursday when she appeared at the Will County Courthouse to face multiple counts of theft.
Tucker's attorney says the investigation into the ink cartridge theft began in November 2014 and Tucker was fired from her job in January 2015.
Her bail was set at $750,000. But her attorney argued that she cannot afford to post bond and that she's not a flight risk because she didn't attempt to flee during the 19-month investigation into the printer ink thefts.
A judge will review a request for a lower bail amount Friday.
