Product tanker Ye Chi reported fire in superstructure in living quarters to MRCC Shanghai at around 1600 LT Aug 3, while under way sailing from Jinshan (south of Shanghai) to Singapore, with 29,000 tons of diesel oil on board.
Five crew were seriously injured in fire, they’ve been taken to hospital, one of them died.
Shanghai sent Coast Guard ship to tanker, which according to AIS, dropped an anchor in Hangzhou Bay some 35 nm east of Jinshan.
By 1400 UTC fire was reported to be under control.
