PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) –
The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team is investigating a deadly collision between a garbage truck and a passenger vehicle in the Cully neighborhood.
The crash was reported near Northeast 49th and Northeast Prescott at 3:32 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Firefighters confirmed that they upgraded their initial response to a person “trapped in a vehicle” once the first unit got on scene.
Police confirm a man in his 40s died. The driver of the Waste Management truck was not injured and remained on scene, police say.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The bureau’s Traffic Division and its Major Crash Team responded to the scene. The roads in the area that were closed re-opened at 7:21 a.m., according to police.
