Overturned rig spills load of lumber on NJ Turnpike in Burlington Co. after colliding with box truck

Traffic came to a standstill in Burlington County this morning, following an accident in the Northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike.
An overturned tractor trailer caused major delays Friday morning along the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County.

The accident happened at 9:35 a.m. in the outer northbound lanes of the turnpike at milepost 52 in Mansfield Township.

The tractor trailer, which was carrying lumber, collided with a box truck.

The rig's load of lumber spilled across the outer lanes.

Two occupants inside the tractor trailer needed to be extricated from the cab by firefighters.

Authorities say fortunately they only suffered minor injuries.

While the inner lanes were able to get by, the outer northbound lanes were blocked for several hours as the scene was cleared.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
