TEMPLE, TEXAS

The intersection of Old Highway 95 and FM 93 was closed to traffic Tuesday afternoon southeast of Temple after a tanker carrying jet fuel overturned and began leaking.

Crews from Temple Fire & Rescue and other departments responded at around 12:30 p.m. and were using foam to contain the leaking fuel.

The driver of the truck received what authorities said were minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Highway 95 was closed in both directions and authorities were diverting traffic.
State Highway 93 was closed at the intersection.

Reports from the scene indicated that the closures could last for some time because the truck’s cargo will have to be transferred to another tanker before the rig can be rolled back onto its wheels.
