UPDATE: Hospital officials on Thursday said Taylor's condition remained critical
GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MI
A Grand Haven Township man was critically injured Wednesday when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a minivan.
Mark Taylor, 56, was struck by a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country minivan while riding a 1995 Honda VF 750 motorcycle north on Lakeshore Drive in Grand Haven Township.
The crash occurred about 4:33 p.m. when the driver of the minivan, who was also traveling north on Lakeshore Drive, didn't notice that Taylor's motorcycle had stopped while he waited to turn left onto Tamarack Lane, sheriff's authorities said.
Taylor was ejected and suffered a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
Taylor was unconscious when Aero Med transported him to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.
The driver of the minivan, identified as 21-year-old Ashlyn McDonald, of Waterford, was not injured.
Police said there are no indications that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
