Elderly woman killed, man injured after FrontRunner train hits truck in Lehi, Utah

LEHI, Utah

An elderly woman who was in extremely critical condition has died and a man was also injured Saturday night in a crash involving a truck and a FrontRunner train that had about 90 people aboard.

FOX 13 News’ Robert Boyd is live at the scene of the crash and reports the elderly couple was in a truck that was struck by the train and that both were taken to a hospital—with the woman listed as being in extremely critical condition.

Boyd reports that just before 9 p.m., the 72-year-old woman died due to her injuries.

The truck that was hit got stuck between the cross-bar and the tracks somehow, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

There were approximately 90 people on the train when the crash occurred, and none of the train passengers were injured. Utah Transit Authority loaded those passengers on to buses.
