1 PILOT KILLED AFTER PIPER PA-22 TRI-PACER FIERY CRASH IN LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA

JUNE 1, 2015

LIVERMORE, CA (KRON)

A small plane crashed in a Livermore field Monday evening, killing the pilot.
Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration said that they got a report of control problems shortly after the single-engine Piper PA22 departed from the Livermore Municipal Airport around 9 p.m.

FAA officials think that there was only on person on board the plane when it crashed.

The plane crashed in the south-east quadrant of North Livermore and Hartford avenues, triggering a grass fire. That’s about three miles northeast of the airport.

Officials with Alameda County Fire were not able to say if the plan itself caught on fire, or if it was just the vegetation.

Livermore resident Adam Sadowy, said “I heard the plane’s engine revving high, and then a thud. Few minutes later, sirens could be heard.”

Instagram user @Jessicathinks took this picture of the plane crash and subsequent fire.

The FAA and NTSP will investigate this plane crash
