INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to a late-night fire at an apartment complex.

According to IFD, an apartment in the 7100 block of Twin Oaks Drive caught fire after a family says a child had been playing with a lighter.

Residents stated the fire started in the bedroom and then quickly spread.

Firefighters were able to swiftly contain the fire with the heaviest damage being to units on the second floor.

IFD says 13 people were safely evacuated from other units.

Damages are estimated at $210,000.
