PHOENIX - Police are investigating after a vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian Friday night.
Officers said the crash happened near 43rd Avenue and Indian School. Phoenix firefighters said a 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital from the scene in critical condition.
That person later died at the hospital, police said.
Authorities on the scene said witnesses observed a truck and a car racing southbound on 43rd Avenue. The truck hit the man in the middle of the road. He got up and appeared to be disoriented, when witnesses told police the car hit him.
Law enforcement also said the victim was hit by a third vehicle, which remained on scene. The truck and car fled the scene, police said.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
