HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A family business is cleaning up after a devastating two-alarm fire near the Eastex Freeway.

Guys Pallet Company buys and sells pallets, and has been open for less than year. Now its owner and employees are left to pick up the pieces after a blaze ripped through the business.

Around 1am, a massive fire broke out at the business on Mooney near Hopper Road in northeast Harris Co.

Propane tanks exploded as more than 10,000 wooden pallets fueled the fire. Esbeydi Cedilla of Guys Pallet Company says the company also lost trucks, forklifts, and a mobile home where an employee named Luis lived.

While no one was injured in the fire, Luis nor the company had insurance.

"It's hard because you wake up early in the morning, come and work and right now, you see there's nothing there," Cedilla says. "It's hard."

Luis says he is sad because everything he owned was inside the trailer home that was destroyed. His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help him recover.

A neighboring car lot also lost several vehicles in the fire.

Firefighters had to bring in tanker trucks full of water after water pressure issues delayed their ability to fight the fire. Large pools of water were also created to help rescue workers battle against the flames.

Firefighters say the low pressure may affect the flow of water inside homes and businesses in the area.

The fire was so large, people could see flames from the Eastex Freeway.

Firefighters from nine area departments were called to help contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.  The business was uninsured, so this unlucky fellow is ruined, along with his creditors.
