One person was killed in an early-morning crash Tuesday on U.S. 19 in Pinellas Park.
Speeding car crashed into back of dump truck
Crash happened on U.S. 19 near Mainlands Blvd.
Car driver killed on impact
According to Pinellas Park police, the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on U.S. 19 just north of Mainlands Boulevard.
Police said the driver of a four-door sedan was speeding and could not slow down enough to avoid hitting a dump truck in front of it. The car crashed into the back of the dump truck, killing the driver on impact.
There was a right front seat passenger who suffered serious injuries. The passenger was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert and remains in serious condition.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
Authorities have not released the identity of the sedan driver as of yet.
