GRAFTON TOWNSHIP, OHIO
A woman was extricated, and she and
another man were flown to area hospitals following a head-on collision
on State Route 83 early Friday morning.
Rescue workers were called out to 83 just south of Law Road
around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a head-on collision. Lt. Carlos Smith of
the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a black Chrysler PT Cruiser was
traveling south on 83. According to witnesses, the vehicle was weaving
and went left of center, striking a white Jeep Cherokee that was
traveling north.
The road was closed as Metro Life Flight landed. The man
driving the PT Cruiser was taken immediately to an unknown hospital, and
Eaton Township firefighters had to work more than an hour to extract
the woman from the Jeep. Her legs were trapped under the dashboard. She
was then taken by Lifeflight to an unknown hospital.
Route 83 reopened around 8:45 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
