SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) --
A food truck parked outside of a residential area in Southwest Miami-Dade exploded Thursday morning.
The incident happened on the 1900 block of Southwest 57th Place, just before 8 a.m.
According to officials, the food truck had a propane tank parked outside, and somehow it exploded. "Our crews are on the scene helping to secure the propane tanks," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson Michelle Fayed, "and we are going to send an investigator there to find out the cause of the explosion."
The truck is a total loss, and two homes adjacent to where the truck was parked sustained minor damage. "A couple of windows were blown out as a result of the explosion," said Fayed, "and crews are on the scene making sure that the homes are structurally sound, and investigators are there again to figure out the cause and to make sure that everybody in that area is safe."
The good news is there were no injuries reported. "We're in shock still," said Louis Jaular, who lives nearby.
Jaular said his mother normally takes her morning walks near the truck, but due to the rain, she chose to stay home. "How big the explosion was, she would've been dead," he said.
"An investigator's been sent out to figure out why this happened this morning," said Fayed.
