SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Traffic was blocked for hours in the downtown area Tuesday morning as crews worked to upright a crane that tipped over at the westbound Highway 90 exit to southbound Interstate 35.

The section of road where the crane fell was already blocked for construction, but traffic stacked up as crews move barriers to get to the crane.

The equipment tipped over around 4 a.m. and officials have said it could be close to noon before the scene is completely cleared.

Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Laura Lopez said no injuries were reported.

More details will be added to this story as they develop.

A truck crane overturned on a highway ramp in San Antonio, Texas yesterday, while lifting a concrete lane divider barrier.
The crane, a Terex T780, owned by local crane supplier Alamo was lifting the barrier with outriggers inboard and boom only very partially extended when it appears to have simply lost stability – due to overloading for its configuration.

The crane was lifting a concrete barrier with retracted outriggers and appears to have overeached.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident and the crane was recovered but around 16:00 yesterday afternoon.
