 JULY 16, 2015

Elwood Lee who had been working on the "Balty" was suing the vessel's owner over injuries he suffered in an accident. Balty is an offshore supply vessel.

He filed a complaint on July 10 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Offshore Logistical and Transports LLC.

Lee was working as a Jones Act seaman on July 20, 2014, aboard the defendant's marine vessel, when an unspecified accident occurred, resulting in a knee injury that required surgery.

The defendant was cited with negligence for breaching its duty of reasonable care, maintaining an unseaworthy vessel and failing to provide a safe workplace, properly train its workers, take safety precautions, provide minimum safety standards, and provide adequate equipment and personnel for the job at issue.

The plaintiff allegedly suffered injury, pain and suffering, disability, lost wages and earning capacity, and medical expenses.

Lee seeks unspecified damages, court costs and attorneys' fees.
