2 adults killed, 2 children injured in Millville, New Jersey high-speed crash.

Two adults were killed and two children were injured in a crash in Millville, New Jersey.
Two adults were killed and two children were injured in a crash in Millville, New Jersey - and witnesses say it appears one of the cars was drag racing.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. Sunday near Buckshutem Road and University Road.

"I witnessed two cars coming by here going really fast - they were like drag racing. One guy swerved to go around the other guy and he clipped the front of the one car...he lost control and plowed into the car in the woods," said Don Gandy.

Gandy, visibly shaken up, was one of the first people on the scene. He estimates the cars were going 90 miles per hour.

Police say a 49-year-old woman in a silver Toyota Camry was stopped at a stop sign at University Street.

A 22-year-old male driver in a black Honda Civic was driving east on Buckshutem Road when he swerved, lost control and crashed into the Toyota.

"When he passed, he panicked - I saw the other car come out and just slammed on the breaks," said Leroy Diggs.

The force of the accident was so violent, it lifted the silver car - pinning it underneath the black one.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Two children, believed to be ages 8 and 3, were hurt.

One of the injured children was airlifted to Cooper Medical Center while the other was taken to Inspira Hospital in Vineland. Both are listed in critical condition.

"I just had to turn my head. They were on top of the car looking for other people but the airbags and everybody was so clustered in, you couldn't see," said Diggs.

The deceased male, who police confirm worked at the speedway, was the only occupant in the Honda.

Police say they are still investigating to see if drag racing played a role and are interviewing witnesses.

"This is one of the worst, this is the worst I've ever seen," said Gandy.

Gandy says after watching countless accidents on his street, he was able to have double yellow lines painted on the street, to prevent passing - but that wasn't enough to stop Sunday's wreck.

Residents want the speed limit to be lowered. The speed limit on this residential road from the drag way is 50 miles an hour, they want it to be under 40.

"To see the kids and the gentleman who lost his life on a day like today - that shouldn't have happen," said Diggs.

"It's just too many accidents, they've got to do something," said Gandy.
