WASHINGTON STATE PATROL DETECTIVES SEEK WITNESSES TO CAR/BUS DEADLY COLLISION IN MAPLE VALLEY, WA







APRIL 2, 2015

The Washington State Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating a car vs. bus, fatality collision on Tuesday, March 31 at approximately 4:10 a.m. on state Route 169 (Maple Valley Highway) near Maple Valley.

The crash occurred on SR 169 at milepost 18.8 (Jones Rd.) in King County; preliminary investigation shows that a King County Metro bus was traveling southbound on SR 169 when it was struck by a Honda Civic 4-door that was traveling northbound.

The Honda crossed the centerline leading to the collision.  The driver of the Honda died at the scene; the bus driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.  There were no passengers on the bus or the Honda.

Detectives are seeking witnesses to the collision or any events leading up to it.

One person claiming to be the sister of the dead driver, Ms. Nichole Schultz, stated on April 22, 2015 that he fell asleep at the wheel.
