CHEMICAL LEAK ONBOARD A DELIVERY VEHICLE AT TINKER AIR FORCE BASE IS UNDER CONTROL

APRIL 22, 2015

MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA

The Tinker Air Force Base gate has been closed due to a reported chemical leak Wednesday.

There was a small leak of a chemical inside a tractor-trailer at the Truck Gate at 12:19 p.m., according to a press release from Tinker AFB.

No word yet on what kind of chemical was leaking, or how much of it was released.

Tinker officials are asking spectators to stay away from the gate at this time.  Here is the announcement from the base:

Inbound traffic at the Gott Gate (southwest entrance to Tinker) is delayed as response teams mitigate a small chemical leak onboard a delivery vehicle at the nearby Tinker Truck Gate (Air Depot and Southeast 59th Street). Response teams have the situation under control. Outbound traffic continues to flow. Individuals wanting to go to the Tinker Clinic or other facilities in the area are encouraged to use the Tinker Gate (Air Depot and I-40) until the incident is cleared.
