BRAMPTON, ONTARIO, CANADA

A man is dead after a crane collapse in Brampton on Tuesday.

Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick said Peel Regional Police were notified about an incident around noon at a construction site behind the Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library. A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene at 10150 Gore Road, Brampton, Ontario L6P 0A6, Canada

“Reports are that there was a large crane at the construction site that either tipped over or collapsed, striking a male worker who was on the ground,” Fitzpatrick said.

“At this point we don’t have any information as to what caused the crane to flip over or collapse.”

The Ministry of Labour has taken over the investigation and dispatched inspectors and an engineer to the scene, spokesman William Lin said.

Bondfield Limited is working at the construction site, but the worker was employed by Forma-Con Construction, Lin said.
