THE ROLLOVER RISK OF TANKER TRUCKS: DRIVER OF TANKER TRUCK CARRYING ETHANOL DIES IN ROWAN COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ROLLOVER. DISASTER AVERTED.

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C.

UPDATE — Highway Patrol confirmed that the driver of the tanker truck, carrying ethanol, died in the crash.

Emergency crews responded to reports of an overturned tanker truck early Thursday morning in Rowan County.

State troopers closed Bringle Ferry Road near Panther Point Road around 7 a.m.
There is still no estimate on when the road will reopen.

Officials have not said if there were any injuries involved in the wreck and it is still unclear how the tanker flipped.

Investigators have not said what the tanker was carrying, but HAZMAT personnel responded the wreck because of a possible leak.

Rowan County dispatchers told WSOC that residents in the immediate area are being evacuated.
