GEORGETOWN, KY. (WKYT)

A Corinth, KY man died Wednesday after his dump truck was struck by a train on a farm off Rogers Gap Road.

The Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton says Stanley Hammonds, 80, of Corinth, was killed when he tried to cross the tracks in a single-axle dump truck.

The sheriff says Hammonds was hauling a load of gravel to a private farm about 2:30 p.m. when the train struck the passenger side of the truck.

It's not clear whether Hammonds stopped on the tracks or the dump truck stalled.
