LAMPASAS, TEXAS
The Lampasas Electric Department has restored power in the
southeast portion of the city after a one vehicle rollover accident this
morning.
At the height of the outage, a wide area was without
electricity including residences and businesses from Key Ave (US 183/190) to
Brown Street.
Lampasas Police and Fire Departments responded to the
accident at the intersection of Main Street and Central Texas Expressway just
after 7 a.m.
The vehicle involved in the accident was a 30 foot cargo
truck carrying cooking oil.
The accident resulted in a non-hazardous spill of cooking
oil and small amounts of diesel.
Emergency crews and hazmat teams quickly contained the
spill.
Grones Environmental also assisted in the cleanup.
At the time of the accident electric crews replaced damaged
poles and services.
It's unclear what caused the truck to rollover, although cargo
trucks are so easy to roll over like puppies if the driver makes an abrupt
move, or suddenly applying the brakes or making an evasive maneuver, and so on.
The accident is being investigated by the Lampasas police
department.
The driver has been issued a citation.
One family was displaced by the accident and has been
relocated to a hotel by the American Red Cross.
