GRANDVIEW, MISSOURI (KCTV)

Three employees at a Grandview chemical plant were hurt after a fire and explosion.

Grandview firefighters responded at about 4:30 a.m. to the blast at Corbion, located at 14120 Botts Rd., a company that deals with food processing chemicals.

The explosion happened in a spray room where employees dump mass amounts of flour.

There were six people near the base of the blast. Three employees suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

Firefighters say those in the plant followed proper evacuation protocol, and they are lucky nobody was more seriously hurt.

Firefighters had the flames out in about 20 minutes with help from the Belton Fire Department. Investigators will likely be on the scene all day.
