MIDDLETOWN, OHIO
A burst pipe is giving the Madison Local
School District a headache.
Crews were at the school’s campus Tuesday, cleaning up water
after the pipe burst in the ceiling of a high school office.
The Dry Patrol had to clean up about 4 inches of standing
water.
First responders said around 12:30 p.m. an alarm was
triggered after the pipe burst in the high schools offices, the water spilled
into the hallways and cafeteria.
“We are a K-12 building, so it’s going to essentially effect
the entire building no matter what,” said Madison Local Schools spokeswoman AJ
Huff.
On Tuesday, the district was supposed to start state testing
but the snowy weather and frigid cold pushed the plans back.
The superintendent said the burst pipe wasn’t getting in the
way of school starting back on Wednesday, as long as Mother Nature cooperated.
“Just kind of depends what’s best for the kids and if we can
get back in here we will. Like I said we’ve been gone for five days so I think
everyone is ready to get back,” said Huff.
School and fire officials still don’t know how much the
damage estimate will be.
Activities had already been cancelled at the school’s campus
because of the weather
