BRICK, NEW JERSEY – A man was seriously injured Saturday morning when the construction crane he was operating in a Garden State Parkway construction zone overturned and fell down an embankment, ejecting him into water, State Police said.

The crane overturned before 10 a.m. near mile-marker 91 in the construction zone on the northbound side of the Parkway, State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn said.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with serious injuries, Flynn said.

More information on rescue efforts and the circumstances of the incident wasn't immediately available.

No lanes were shut down as the incident occurred off the roadway, Flynn said. However, traffic was moving very slowly in the northbound lanes approaching the incident.
