Truck Catches Fire On Route 128

A truck caught fire

STONEHAM (CBS) – A
truck fire briefly shut down all lanes of Route 128 on the Stoneham-Reading
town line Friday morning.
Smoke could be seen
billowing from a truck in a photograph shared by Dustin Fitch of the
Massachusetts State Police around 9:15 a.m.

Due to the fire on Route
128/Interstate 95 South just prior to Interstate 93 in Stoneham, all lanes of
the road were temporarily shut down.
At about 9:25 a.m.
the left lane on the southbound side was reopened and the ramp from I-95 South
to I-95 North soon after.
Firefighters put out
the flames, but traffic was backed up as a result.
State police said traffic
was backed up for about five miles as a result of the fire.
All lanes were
opened to traffic at about 10 a.m.

on the truck fire are currently available.
