A power line worker was killed Saturday morning in south Houston when a routine electrical work went awry.

A coworker also was also injured in the incident, which happened just before 11 a.m. in the 7400 block of Santa Fe Drive, just north of Hobby Airport. There no immediate word on that person’s condition.

Stacey Cox with CenterPoint Energy says that the pair were CenterPoint contract workers employed through a company called MP Technologies, which has an office in Cypress.

Cox said that the workers were actually doing electrical work for CenterPoint at the time of the accident, and not trimming trees as authorities had previously reported.
