A collision between a Valley Metro city bus and a dump truck restricted northbound traffic on Seventh Avenue near Campbell Avenue Monday afternoon, but the wreck took a more vulgar turn when a flasher appeared at the scene.

Shortly after the Monday afternoon crash in central Phoenix a man ran out from behind a nearby row of bushes and flashed everyone gathered in the area before running away, according to passengers at the scene.

The flasher seized the opportunity that arose after the bus was leaving a stop in the area at about 1 p.m. Monday, according to passengers and eye witnesses.

A dump truck exited a nearby construction zone and hit the front, right bumper of the bus as the dump truck attempted to merge with northbound traffic, according to passengers and witnesses.

The dump truck was removing debris from a canal construction site.

A new bus came to pick up the passengers and continue the route.

No one was injured in this incident.

Woman recalls witnessing bad wreck in Harrison County, Mississippi where a truck flipped and ended up by a ditch. Two teenagers were inside the vehicle.

A Perkinston woman believes she was at the scene of an accident for a reason. Over the weekend, she said she witnessed a serious wreck in Harrison County where a truck flipped and ended up by a ditch. Two teenagers were inside the vehicle.

"Oh wow! Look at that! I mean, it literally scraped the asphalt," Melissa Bankston commented Monday.

There are still scratches on the road and pieces of debris scattered along a ditch on Saucier-Lizana Road. They are reminders for Bankston of a scary scene Saturday night. Bankston and her two young sons were heading to a friend's house. They were running about an hour late and had just passed a white truck that was coming from the opposite direction.

"I heard metal, like crushing metal, glass breaking and that's what really caught my attention. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the lights and the trees and I was like, ‘Oh no!'” said Bankston.

Bankston said she saw the truck flip and land upside down.

"My heart was definitely pounding," she said.

Bankston said she slammed on the breaks and shouted at another driver to call 911.

"When I saw the tennis shoes on the road, that's when my heart just stopped," she said.

Bankston said she jumped into the ditch and found two teenage boys in the vehicle.

"They could have gotten out on their own I'm pretty sure, but they were in so much shock and they were stunned. They weren't moving. I was like, 'Come on, y'all got to get out!'" said Bankston.

Bankston said she helped get both teens out of the truck. However, Harrison County investigators say the boys crawled out on their own. Even though the accounts of what happened that night are different, Bankston said she was glad she stopped to check on the victims.

"It makes me feel good, and I hope if my boys, when they're older and driving of course, I hope if it was to happen to them, someone would help them like that," said Bankston. "I was at the right place at the right time, and helped them out a little bit, gave them a helping hand, and went about my business."

Investigators say the two teens, ages 13 and 18, were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

GREENVILLE, OHIO

A Versailles man was cited for failure to yield after he and another driver were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Marlin Bowman of Versailles, did not stop at the intersection on westbound U.S. Route 36 and continued into the path of a 1978 Chevy pickup headed north on State Route 121.

Bowman, who was driving a 1984 gray Toyota pickup, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Wayne Healthcare, according to the sheriff’s office.

Robert Kiser of Greenville, the driver of the other truck, was treated at the scene by Tri Village Rescue.

KELLOGG, Idaho - 

 Idaho State Police report a semi truck crashed on I-90 when the driver lost control of his truck Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 8:30 a.m. when the truck driver, identified as Dale R. Cummings of Salmon, Idaho, attempted to pass another truck on the icy and slushy road and lost control, running into the concrete barrier. The rear dual wheels of the trailer were torn off AND fell off the bridge to Division Street, below I-90.

Three vehicles below were damaged by debris, but no one was in the vehicles at the time. The truck rolled onto its side and blocked the left lane of I-90 for a prolonged period.

Cummings was cited for inattentive driving and taken to Shoshone Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the wreck.

A Wichita, KS man has died in a crash with a semitrailer hauling cattle just outside Newton, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said Monday night.

Walton said the man was trying to pass a vehicle in front of him while driving east on U.S. 50 at Hillside about one or two miles east of Newton when he collided with a truck hauling about 40 head of cattle. The truck went into the north-side ditch, landed on its side and burst into flames, Walton said. The accident occurred at about 6 p.m. Monday.

The driver of the cattle truck crawled out and “appears to be OK” but was at Wesley Medical Center for observation, Walton said.

Walton did not have an age for the Wichita man, whom emergency workers pronounced dead at the scene.

As of about 9:45 p.m., responders had gotten 12 head of cattle out of the truck. Walton said he did not know how many still inside the truck were injured or how many were dead.

“The ones in the front of the trailer, they’re probably deceased,” Walton said.

Farmers are helping get the cattle out and setting up gates to keep them in one area as they leave the truck.

“Without them, we’d be lost,” Walton said of the farmers, adding that he feared cattle would get loose on the highway and cause more accidents.

A veterinarian was at the scene. Animals have been taken to a farm about a half-mile away, Walton said.

Walton said he expected U.S. 50 to be closed for a few hours while officials continue to investigate the accident.
