Ore carrier BERGE BUREYA spilled about one ton of heavy fuel in Singapore Strait west of Singapore, in the morning July 26.
Understood ore carrier was anchored at the time of an accident, in Tanjung Piai area, Malaysia, maybe for bunkering.
Vessel is en route from Brazil via Chinese ports, port of destination unknown, whether vessel is loaded or not, is also unknown. Vessel has 5495 tons of heavy fuel on board.
BERGE BULK is cooperating with Malaysian authorities in cleansing operation, vessel said to be surrounded by booms. BERGE BUREYA is officially under detention, at 0300 UTC July 28 she was in the same position.
