SACRAMENTO, Ca — Firefighters are on the scene where a huge fire is burning through a wrecking yard in South Sacramento.
The fire burned on McComber Street near Florin Road.
News 3’s sister station CBS Sacramento is also on the scene where a reporter says he hears several explosions coming from the propane business next door.
Firefighters say it started as a grass fire along the side of the street before spreading to nearby businesses.
A Metro Fire Department statement says 13 fire engines, one water tender, one medical unit, and four battalion chiefs have been assigned to the fire.
The owner of AZ Auto Dismantlers, where several vehicles are burning, tells CBS Sacramento he just bought the business.
“I don’t know where the fire started. It’s in my neighbor’s yard as well. I didn’t have insurance. We bought the business one month ago,” he says.
So far no injuries have been reported.
