Employee killed in accident at Bangor Raceway in Maine







BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- 


Bangor police, along with several other law enforcement officers, are currently investigating a fatal accident at the Hollywood Casino Track that has left one employee dead.

Officials said the accident had to do with the starting gate, but no other information has been released.


Police on Thursday identified the victim as 64-year-old Edwin Reynolds of Machias.

No races were scheduled at Bangor Raceway until Monday. It has not yet been determined if those races will carry on as scheduled.

Investigators from the Bangor Police Department Criminal Investigation Division are working with side by side with investigators from the Maine Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

BANGOR, Maine — 


An accident involving a starting gate vehicle has claimed the life of a Bangor Raceway employee, a spokesman for Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway said Wednesday.

The death occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday on the oval racetrack at Bass Park, and the incident remains under investigation.

An internal investigation has been launched, and Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway officials are cooperating fully with Bangor police and fire personnel and Maine State Police, according to spokesman Dan Cashman.

The name of the deceased will not be released until family members have been notified.

No races were scheduled at Bangor Raceway until Monday. It has not yet been determined if those races will carry on as scheduled.

Hollywood Casino is working on bringing in grief counselors for employees who need them.

No other information is available at this time.

Investigators from the Bangor Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are working with investigators from the Maine Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Bangor police spokesman Sgt. Tim Cotton said.
