Pilot injured after helicopter engine fails on engine-failure simulation flight in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (AP) - 

 One person was hurt after a helicopter on a practice flight with an engine power failure simulation made a hard landing in Las Vegas after the aircraft's engine actually failed.   

The Federal Aviation Administration said one person suffered minor injuries after the Schweizer 269 helicopter made the hard landing around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The pilot was practicing landing under a loss of engine power simulation when the engine actually cut out.   

There was damage to the tail rotor and skids on the helicopter. Clark County airports spokeswoman said the aircraft was based at the North Las Vegas Airport.
