Crews are working to find a leak in a crude oil pipeline in Shelby County, Missouri, but so far, the damage has been minimal.
Officials with Enbridge Pipeline say they found an oil trail coming from the pipeline Tuesday, and immediately shut off the line. They say they think it came from a pinhole in the pipe, and they were digging Thursday to find and fix the leak.
About 16 to 20 gallons of crude oil came out of the pipeline, but officials say there has been no impact on wildlife or the water supply.
"We have two pipelines in this," Mike Moeller said. "We have positively confirmed that one pipeline is not the suspect and have restarted that as of about 9 o'clock last night. The other pipeline, we continue to do our diligence to find the source of the free product if it is indeed the pipeline."
Federal pipeline regulators and Missouri Department of Natural Resources officials have already been out to investigate the cleanup efforts.
Crews are also working to remove the contaminated soil from the site.
