An Oregon woman has died after falling from a northeast Nebraska lake boat ramp.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission said in a news release Saturday that the accident happened Friday afternoon at Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce.
Witnesses say the Oakland, Oregon, woman was boating with her family and had just stepped off a boat onto the dock when she apparently lost her balance and fell into the water. She remained under the dock a short time before family members were able to pull her out and perform CPR.
Rescue crews took the woman to a Norfolk hospital, where she died Friday night.
Officials say the woman, whose name has not yet been released, was wearing an inflatable life jacket but apparently was unable to deploy it.
