Monroe man dies in motorcycle crash 

 Friday, July 31, 2015, 10:50 a.m. 

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, MI

A 23-year-old Monroe man was killed Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash. 

The crash occurred at 7:42 a.m. on U.S. Turnpike Rd. north of Haggerman Rd. in Berlin Township. 

Cody L. Poff was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle north on U.S. Turnpike Rd. 

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the road, entered a ditch before striking a road sign post and metal fence, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. 

Mr. Poff, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle. 

He was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital in Trenton where he was pronounced death. 

Berlin Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Matt Torongeau of the sheriff’s Uniformed Services Division, Deputy Brian Quinn and Sgt. Dan Zdybek of the traffic services division.
