WORKER FELL ABOUT 40 FEET FROM A TREE THAT HE WAS TRIMMING WHEN HIS SPIKES BECAME UNDONE

MARCH 31, 2015

FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT

A worker fell about 40 feet from a tree that he was trimming at a Rock Major Road home at midday Monday.

The employee of Bert's Tree Service, who was conscious (but almost dead) when emergency crews arrived on the scene, told police that he fell when his tree-climbing spikes became undone.

Taken to a hospital for treatment, there was no immediate information on the man's condition.

Firefighters said that officials at the state Occupational Safety and health administration have been notified.

If no fall protection, then his employer, Bert’s tree service, may have some explaining to do.
